Vicious Dog Pack Mauls Texas Man to Death

ROCKPORT, TX — A Texas man was mauled to death by a pack of dogs on Tuesday, June 22. Local authorities said that the attack took place at around 5 a.m. in Rockport, a city 31 miles northeast of Corpus Christi on the Texas coast. Deputies with the Aransas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential area after receiving a report that a man was screaming for help.

A man, later identified as 40-year-old Lewis Flores, was walking down a residential street when he was set upon by a pack of dogs. The attack was still in progress when deputies arrived on the scene, which prompted one of the deputies to open fire on the pack of animals. One of the deputies hit his mark, and the pack fled the scene. Medical personnel performed CPR to attempt to revive Flores, but he succumbed to his injuries. 

The local media KIIITV interviewed the man that made the original 911 call, Adrian Arispe. He described a gruesome scene to reporters. "He's just laying there face down, naked, all torn up like a shark ate him. He had his shoes, socks, and shirt ripped," he said. "They were tugging him all four ways," he said. "Whatever have you, those dogs need to be caught, and they need to be put to sleep."

Some of the dogs were captured later in the day by animal control services. One of the local media outlets, KIIITV, reported Wednesday evening that 33-year-old Guadalupe Carreon was arrested and charged in connection with Flores’s death. As of Wednesday, all the dogs had been located, and animal control had them in their possession. Carreon is currently listed at the Aransas County Jail under attack by dog resulting in death charges.
