MIAMI— One of the best wide receivers in the NFL is being investigated for an assault that took place over Father’s Day weekend.
Current Miami Dolphin and All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill is being investigated for an assault where Hill allegedly hit an employee working at Haulover Marina.
On Father’s Day, around 6:00 p.m., Hill had apparently gotten into a verbal disagreement with an employee who was working a charter out of Haulover Marina. Hill’s group was allegedly fished for tarpon, which is a protected fish in Florida and fishing for them is not allowed.
An employee then informed the group about it and Hill allegedly hit the man in the back of the head.
The Miami Dolphins issued the following statement about Hill’s incident:
“We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with Tyreek, his representative, and the NFL. We will reserve further comment at this time.”
Hill was drafted in the fifth round in the 2016 NFL Draft and fell in part due to a domestic violence arrest in college. In 2014 while at Oklahoma State, Hill was arrested after beating his girlfriend and was consequently dismissed from Oklahoma State.
Then, Hill was investigated for an alleged battery incident where his 3-year-old child sustained a broken arm. There was not enough evidence to move forward with convicting Hill in this case.
Hill was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs and made a huge impact with quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Hill put up 6,630 yards and 46 touchdowns with the Chiefs. He was traded to the Miami Dolphins last season and put up 1,710 yards and seven touchdowns.
