SAN ANGLEO, TX – San Angelo ISD on Monday announced the hiring of three new head coaches.
Coach Stan Gideon - Central High School Baseball
San Angelo ISD and Central High School proudly announce Coach Stan Gideon as the new head baseball coach. Coach Gideon most recently served as head baseball coach at several 5A high schools including Alamo Heights High School, Northwest High School, Springtown High School and Granbury High School.
Coach Gideon has led 21 teams to playoffs, six teams to regionals, and one state winning team, setting school records in wins along the way.
In addition to his time coaching, Coach Gideon also has personal athletic experience in basketball, baseball, and tennis. He has earned accolades such as All Big State Conference First Baseman and Most Outstanding ETBU Athlete.
Coach Gideon has a Masters of Science from East Texas State University and a Bachelors of Science from East Texas Baptist University. He is excited to meet his Bobcat athletes and looks forward to living and coaching in our west Texas community.
Coach Rocky Feliciano - Central High School Boys Basketball
San Angelo ISD and Central High School proudly announce Coach Rocky Feliciano as the new head boys basketball coach. The promotion of Coach Feliciano from assistant basketball coach to the head basketball coach creates continuity for our current Bobcat basketball players as they begin preparation for the 2023-2024 season.
Coach Feliciano has previously served as a basketball, football, baseball, strength and conditioning and track coach at O’Donnell ISD, Wink-Loving ISD, and Sul Ross State University. He has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Sul Ross State University. Coach Feliciano has received accolades such as Six Man Association Coach of the Year.
Coach Gabriel Chapa - Lake View High School Girls Basketball
San Angelo ISD and Lake View High School proudly announce Coach Gabriel Chapa as the new head girls basketball coach. Coach Chapa comes to SAISD from Blue Ridge ISD, where he served as the head girls basketball coach for the high school. During his time at Blue Ridge, Coach Chapa established practices and procedures for the girls basketball program and worked with grade levels 7-12 to build the girls basketball program. Through his efforts, Coach Chapa increased numbers to create the first girls freshman team in school history.
Coach Chapa has almost 10 years experience coaching both boys and girls basketball. As the first assistant boys varsity basketball coach at Lamesa ISD, Coach Chapa helped lead the boys varsity basketball team to five consecutive playoff appearances. As the first assistant varsity basketball coach at Clayton Public Schools in New Mexico, Coach Chapa helped guide the basketball program to its first state tournament appearance in 10 years.
Coach Chapa has also coached middle school basketball at Coahoma ISD and served as assistant principal at Lamesa ISD. Coach Chapa has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Biology from University of Texas-Permian Basin.
“We are excited with the new addition of these three men to San Angelo ISD and look forward to the commitment and passion they will bring to their respective programs,” said Executive Director of Athletics Coach Rodney Chant.
