Cyber-Tip Led to Chad George's Arrest

SAN ANGELO— The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a cyber tip to the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office for the arrest of Chad George.

On June 7, 2023, Chad George, 42, was arrested for possession of child pornography. According to court documents, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children sent the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office a cyber tip that an unknown person had uploaded four videos of suspected child pornography on January 24, 2023.

George had uploaded the obscene images onto Synchrosnoss Technologies, a cloud-based storage provider on a Verizon Cloud. The data stored on this cloud storage is directly copied from the target’s cellphone during a “backup” of the device.

Whooster, an intelligence database, provided investigators with a phone number associated with George and an address, which was on Southridge Drive in San Angelo, Texas. Per the Tom Green County Appraisal District, the address on Southridge Drive is owned by George.

Investigators submitted a search warrant to Synchrosnoss Technologies for all digital media and electronic record regarding George’s account. The investigator discovered 337 images and videos of young children dancing provocatively, 95 videos and images containing obvious child pornography, and 25 non-pornographic images of George, his family, an account activation screenshot with George’s name on it, an IRS 1099 form with George’s name on it, and a VISA card with George’s name on it.

The images allegedly uploaded by George were of children, ages three to eight, participating in sexual acts, performing in sexual acts, or posing sexually.

George was booked into the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office on June 7, 2023, for possession of child pornography and is currently an inmate being held on $250,000 bond.

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office sent out information regarding George’s arrest on June 8, 2023.
