Elks to Hold Sanctioned Chili Cook-Off June 17

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — If you are planning on competing at the International Championship Chili Cook Off in Terlingua, here is an opportunity to earn the points before you get there. San Angelo Elks Lodge 1880 is partnering with the local Chili Pod to hold the Elks Chili cook-off on Saturday, June 17. The cook-off is sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International, or CASI

All proceeds will help fund the summer camp for Special Needs Children at Ottine (between Luling and Gonzales), which is sponsored by the Texas Elks State Association.

Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Elks Lodge, 2121 S. Chadbourne. The cost is $18 for Chili and $5 for Beans. Beans will be judged at noon and may be cooked off site. The Chili must be cooked on site and must be made from "chili grind meat." Chili will be judged at 2 p.m.

The Lodge raffle is held after the awards ceremony. The Elks are requesting cakes, pies, & new items be donated for a live auction.

Hamburgers will be available for $5 each starting at 11 a.m.
