SAN ANGELO— San Angelo Police Department Officers and San Angelo Fire Department Firefighters squared off Saturday in the annual Guns & Hoses basketball game to end Police Week.
Two 20-minute running quarters were played at the Northside Boys and Girls Club where Police took on the Firefighters in the “Guns N’ Hoses” Basketball Game.
The men in blue got off to a hot start, going up 7-0 before setting Fire on the free throw line to break the egg they had on the scoreboard. Before halftime, the Cop's lead would dwindle down to four, 21-17.
After a three minutes halftime, Cops and Fire started the second half.
Within the first five minutes of the second half, the Cops would extend their lead again to nearly double digits 30-21. Fire doesn’t know the word “quit” and ate into the Cops lead to make it 33-30 with about five left in the game.
The Cops got going and hit a three and drained a couple minutes off the clock after extending their lead again 38-30. With 2:46 remaining, Fire had to catch fire and they hit a quick two points to only be down six points.
With time running out, the Cops held on to win 40-36.
