SAN ANGELO, TX — Angelo State University’s Kinesiology department hosted a free symposium on Friday, May 5, for local and area high school juniors and seniors planning careers in sports and coaching, coaches aspiring to move their teams to the next level, and prospective graduate students in coaching and sports administration. The symposium included several individual speakers and a panel discussion. Many students and coaches from around the Concho Valley were in attendance.
The symposium featured a panel of speakers that included:
- Jeff Girsch, ASU Rams Head Football Coach - Keynote Speaker
- Dr. Zero Eldridge, Chair, ASU Kinesiology Department
- Dr. Warren Simpson, Director, ASU Coaching, Sport, Recreation and Fitness Administration Program
- Dr. (Doris) Rozena McCabe, ASU Professor of Kinesiology
- Dr. Veronica Snow, ASU Associate Professor of Kinesiology
- Dr. Jordan Daniel, ASU Associate Professor of Kinesiology
- Chelsea Procter-Willman, ASU Clinical Instructor of Athletic Training
- Russell Lucas, Sweetwater ISD Athletic Director, Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Board Member
- Glen West, Assistant Executive Director, THSCA
- Libby Pacheco, Chief Operating Officer, THSCA Education Foundation
The symposium proved an excellent opportunity for students and coaches alike to gather together, learn from each other, and network with all in attendance. Angelo State also set up tables and booths outside the classroom where students could learn more about sports organizations at ASU.
