SAN ANGELO – The decades old Holy Angels Parish Festival returns Sunday with a BBQ brisket and sausage meal, kids games, the ever popular cake walk, and live auction at the Catholic Church on A&M Ave. in San Angelo.
In 2018, volunteers prepared two tons (4,000 lbs) of homemade German sausage and 300 briskets for the meal. The festival Sausage Committee also sells the popular sausage by the pound prior to the festival.
The annual Holy Angels Festival will be held Sunday, May 7, 2023 starting at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. The brisket & sausage meal is $12 per plate and will be served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. while drive-thru plates will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
There is also a raffle for several gift cards. Raffle tickets are available from parishioners and at the festival Sunday.
The live auction begins at 1:30 p.m. The annual event is the largest fundraiser each year or the church.
The theme for 2023 is "Planted in the House of the Lord they shall flourish in the Courts of our God." Psalm 92:13.
Volunteers spend most of Friday curling meat and making over 4,000 pounds of German sausage. Saturday will be preparation day and cooking several hundred pounds of brisket for the meal, and the festival is Sunday.
