WALL, TX — The Wall Hawks Baseball team gathered at Wall’s Baseball field on Friday night, April 22, to honor their longtime head coach, Jason Schniers. Surrounded by friends, family, and both current and former players, Wall High School celebrated their Legendary skipper.
"I was truly honored by everyone who organized the event and for everyone who showed up to the game last night, including all of the former players of mine who made an appearance for the event," Coach Schniers said. "It was nice to visit with them all and reminisce with them about memories with them."
Jason Schniers began his tenure at Wall High School back in 2008 as an assistant coach. By 2010, he had taken over the program and quickly elevated the Hawks to new heights. Up to this point in his career, Schiers posted a 346-83-4 overall record, but his most outstanding achievement on the field by far is the 2019 Baseball State Championship. Other accolades for the lauded coach include eight district titles, five regional quarterfinal appearances, two regional semifinal appearances, two regional final appearances, and of course, one state championship.
Schniers also accumulated many personal accolades during his tenure as the Hawks’ head coach. He also claimed:
- All-District Coach of the Year: 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022
- Fellowship of Christian Athletes South All-Star Coach: 2017
- Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association North All-Star Coach: 2018
- Big Country Preps Coach of the Year: 2019
- Class 3A Texas Sports Writers Coach of the Year: 2019
- Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Region 1 Director: 2020-2022

Wall’s beloved coach plans to hang it up and retire after the conclusion of this season. Currently, the Hawks sport a 23-4-1 record this season and are in a deadlock with Jim Ned headed into the final weekend of regular season play.
"The season to this point has been exactly what we thought it could be with the returners from last season. We have had a few injuries, but we have also had several guys step up and be big contributors to our success. We are still trying to accomplish our goal of winning a district championship and making a deep run in the playoffs," Schniers said in a statement. "Our overall goal, like all other teams that make the playoffs, is to win a state championship. We hope to be playing well enough in the playoffs to give ourselves a shot at playing at the state tournament in June."
The Hawks host the Indians on Thursday, April 27, at 6 p.m. Then, they travel to Tuscola to play their final two regular season games at Jim Ned on Friday and Saturday. This final 3-game series is likely to decide who wins the District Championship.
