HOLLYWOOD— A John Wick prequel show titled “The Continental” has dropped a trailer.
Set in 1970’s New York, the story will follow a young Winston Scott, played by Ian McShane in the John Wick movies, as he becomes the steward of The Continental, which is a hotel for assassins.
The official synopsis reads:
The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-space of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course though the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future.
The Continental’s showrunner is Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward. John Wick directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, along with the creative team behind Deadpool, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and Shawn Simmons will be the shows executive producers. Book of Eli director Albert Hughes is set to direct the first and third episode. The director of the second episode is unknown at this time.

The Continental cast includes:
- Colin Woodell as Winston Scott
- Ayomide Adegun as Charon
- Mel Gibson as Cormac
- Ben Robson as Frankie
- Hubert Point-Du Jour as Miles
- Jessica Allain as Lou
- Mishel Prada as KD
- Nhung Kate as Yen
As the show is set in the past, McShane would only be apart of present day flashes throughout the show. Charon, played by Lance Reddick in the movies, died recently and Adegun has played the character in the past. It's also rumored that Keanu Reeves will appear as well.
The Continental is set to premiere on Peacock in September.
