Dierschkes Bid Farewell

SAN ANGELO, TX — A well deserved retirement party was held Tuesday afternoon for Norman and Binnie Dierschke, owners of the real estate brokerage, Dierschke & Dierschke, 5026 Knickerbocker Rd. The brokerage’s founders and owners were brother- and sister-in-laws.

Binnie said the brokerage was established in April 1997.

“We intended to ride the wave of success for about five or six years,” Binnie said. But the business kept growing so the Dierschkes held on for the long ride.

Today, 26 years later, Dierschke & Dierschke Realtors is still going strong. The brokerage was sold to broker Ryan Newlin this month. Newlin said the offices are currently being remodeled and will re-open as a third location for ERA Newlin & Co. next month.

About 100 guests attended the retirement party at the San Angelo Board of Realtors, 1902 Pecos St. A beer and wine bar along with a large spread of cheeses, meats and locally-made sausage was served from the conference room table.

Norman is the brother of Binnie’s husband, Ken Dierschke, who served from 2002 until 2014 as the head of the Texas Farm Bureau. Binnie said contrary to what was whispered around the room Tuesday that she and Ken are not necessarily embarking on a world travel tour. She didn’t think Norman and his wife Linda were either.

“When Ken was with the Farm Bureau, we went everywhere,” she said.

That quenched the couple’s thirst for vacation travel. Instead of Las Vegas, Ken and Binnie said they’d be more likely to travel to visit their grown kids and see the grandkids.

Binnie reminisced about all of the successful agents with whom she worked over the past 26 years. Then she offered a memory unrelated to selling houses. She recalled her office’s role in starting the popular trend of holding a “trunk or treat” in the large parking lot of her real estate offices. It became a tradition. Today, trunk or treat activities are held all over the city every Halloween.
