A 28-year-old man wielding a knife was arrested by police for aggravated robbery on Saturday, following a brief vehicle and foot pursuit that ended outside Shannon Hospital.
On June 6, officers were dispatched to the parking lot of 1616 S. Chadbourne in reference to an armed robbery that had just occurred. The victim advised that he was approached by a Hispanic male who placed a knife near his stomach stating "where's everything at?" and demanding his cell phone, wallet, and jewelry. The victim and his companion both complied with the demands from the suspect. The victim pointed out the suspect vehicle to off duty security as the vehicle left northbound on Chadbourne.
The suspect attempted another robbery in the 200 block of S. Chadbourne. As the officers were gathering information on the second robbery attempt Officer Ethan Thomas observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle pass by. A very short pursuit ensued until the suspect vehicle collided with a curb at Oakes and Beauregard. The suspect fled on foot northbound and was captured outside of Shannon Hospital.
The suspect was identified as 28-year-old Orlando Govea. It was confirmed through the investigation that Govea was the suspect in the previous two events. Govea was booked for assault by threat, evading, aggravated robbery, and city warrants.
