HOLLYWOOD— DC Studios has released the first trailer for long awaited movie The Flash.
After years of development and after going through several directors, “The Flash” has finally released its first trailer. Made before the hiring of James Gunn to take over the DC Universe, the film stars Justice League actor Ezra Miller as the titular speedy hero.
The official synopsis for The Flash reads:
“Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no superheroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he's looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?"
An imprisoned Kryptonian and a different Batman?
That’s right, not only is Ben Affleck back as Batman, but Michael Keaton also returns as the Caped Crusader. The girl wearing Superman’s suit? That’s Sasha Calle’s Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl.
Also coming back is Michael Shannon’s General Zod who we first saw in Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel” and last saw in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”. Zod was using the change engine to make Earth like Krypton for his people.
“The Flash” looks heavily based on the “Flashpoint” comics and, according to DC co-chairman James Gunn, is going to reset some of the DC Universe.
The Flash is directed by Andy Muschietti, who directed “IT” and it’s sequel “IT: Chapter Two”.
