SAN ANGELO, TX — Playoffs kicked off on Monday night, Feb. 14, for the Texas UIL High School Girl’s Basketball. The Boys wrap up their regular season on Tuesday night. Several Concho Valley teams saw action across West Texas. Here are the results from yesterday’s games and a preview for tonight.
SAN ANGELO CENTRAL LADY CATS
The Lady Cats played their Bi-district playoff matchup against El Paso Pebble Hills in Fort Stockton on Monday afternoon. After leading for almost the entire game, Pebble Hills hit a shot at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. Again the Lady Cats pulled ahead but missed free throws were their undoing. With less than six seconds left, Pebble Hills grabbed a rebound off a missed free throw and sprinted up the court. They heaved up a three with 0.2 seconds left and sank the shot. Central fell in overtime at the buzzer 53-52.
BOBCATS
The Bobcats finish regular season play on Tuesday night against the Odessa High Bronchos in San Angelo. The ‘Cats are in a three-way tie for second place in their district. A win tonight against the Bronchos guarantees a playoff spot and the second overall seed. A loss to Odessa High results in a series of tiebreakers that will be decided this weekend.
WALL LADY HAWKS
The Lady Hawks played their Bi-district playoff matchup in Sonora against Comfort on Monday night. Wall dominated their competition throughout the entire game, and the Lady Hawks claimed an easy round one victory, 61-17. Brylyn Watts led the Lady Hawks with 16 points.
The Lady Hawks return to action in Anson on Thursday against Holliday at 6:30 p.m.
WALL VS TLCA
The Hawks and Eagles battle for the 6-3A district championship at the TLCA Athletic Complex on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Both teams enter tonight’s contest with an 11-2 district record. The Eagles sport the district’s best offense in the league, with 2033 points scored this season. However, Wall has the best defense this season only has only allowed 1097 points. TLCA won the first matchup against the Hawks 43-28 in Wall.
CHRISTOVAL LADY COUGARS
The Lady Cougars played their Bi-district playoff matchup against Coleman at Lake View High School in San Angelo. Christoval never trailed and earned a 47-29 victory. The Lady Cougars play Wink in the Area Round.
COUGARS
Christoval wraps up its regular season against Forsan in Christoval on Tuesday. The Cougars sit in a tie for second place in their district with Sterling City. Sterling City plays Reagan County tonight at Sterling City High School.
LAKE VIEW CHIEFS
The Chiefs wrap up their ‘22-23 season in San Angelo on Tuesday against the Sweet Water Mustangs. Lake View can finish this year on a high note with a win at home.
