These Texas College Football Teams Are Going Bowling! Aggies Aren't...

 

AUSTIN, TX — Out of the state's 12 FBS (Division I College Football) programs, nine received invitations to bowl games at the end of the 2022 season. TCU leads the way as the College Football Playoff selection committee selected the Horned Frogs to play off for the first time in their history. 

The Big 12 went four-four with in-state teams, as all received bowl invitations. All but UTEP, Texas State, and Texas A&M made the post-season list. 

Here is the complete list of bowls:

  • UTSA vs. Troy - Duluth Trading Cure Bowl (Orlando, FL) Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. 

    • UTSA fell to the Trojans 18-12. UTSA finished the 2022 season with an 11-3 record.

  • SMU vs. BYU - New Mexico Bowl (Albuquerque, NM) - Dec. 17 at 1:15 p.m. 

    • The BYU Cougars beat the Mustangs 24-23 after the Cougars made a late stand against a surging SMU.

  •  Rice vs. Southern Miss - LendingTree Bowl (Mobile, AL) Dec. 17 at 4:45 p.m. 

    • Southern Miss defeated the Owls 38-24.

  • North Texas vs. Boise State - Frisco Bowl (Frisco, TX) Dec. 17 at 8:15 p.m.

    • The Broncos defeated the Mean Green 35-32.

  • Baylor vs. Air Force - Armed Forces Bowl (Fort Worth, TX) - Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.

  • Houston vs. Louisiana - Independence Bowl ( Shreveport, LA) - Dec. 23 at 2 p.m. on ESPN

  • Texas Tech vs. Ole Miss - TaxAct Texas Bowl (Houston, TX) - Dec. 28 at 8 p.m. on ESPN

  • Texas vs. Washington - Valero Alamo Bowl (San Antonio, TX) - Dec. 29 at 8 p.m. on ESPN

  • TCU vs. Michigan - Vrbo Fiesta Bowl (Glendale, AZ) - Dec. 31 at 3 p.m. on ESPN.
