LAS VEGAS, NV — San Angelo owned the final round of tie-down roping at the National Finals Rodeo on Saturday with all three of its cowboys finishing in the top five.
Ty Harris won the event in 6.8 seconds, followed by Dylan Hancock in second place in 7.4, and Joel Harris in a tie for fourth at 8.0.
When the dust settled, San Angelo’s three competitors all ended the year in the top 10 in the overall standings for the second consecutive year.
This time, Joel Harris led the way with his best-ever finish in fourth place with $334,786.13 in season earnings.
Hancock matched his sixth-place finish from last year with $300,585.32.
Ty Harris, who struggled for much of this year’s NFR, found his groove late and took second in Round 9 and first in Round 10. He ended up in ninth place overall with $242,414,93.
Denton’s Riley Webb defended his world title and ended the season with $555,543.62. Clovis, New Mexico’s Shad Mayfield was second with $388,930.78, and Mount Pleasant’s Kincade Henry was third with $342,798.76.
