WALL, TX – Lady Hawks' Volleyball player Brooke Lehr signed with Western Texas College on Monday, Dec. 13, to play Volleyball next season. It takes a unique talent to compete at the next level, and Brooke has what it takes.
An exciting atmosphere filled the gymnasium at Wall High School where Brooke, her family, and her friends all celebrated her signing with Western Texas. She expressed her excitement and almost disbelief that she had the opportunity to keep playing volleyball.
"I'm feeling good, it's a crazy kind of day. It is still soaking in that I am continuing volleyball next year. I really enjoyed this year so I am excited to see what comes next," she said.
The Lady Hawks had an outstanding Volleyball season this year, going 37-7 (8-0) and placing first in their district. The district 6 3A Champions then went on to reach the 4th round of the playoffs before falling to Bushland in the quarterfinals of the state tournament.
Brooke Lehr led the Lady Hawks as their serving ace, accumulating 90 aces throughout the season. She also was second on the team in average kills per set at 2.3. Her exceptional talent attracted the eye of Western Texas College, and she was more than happy to move on to the collegiate level.
When asked why she chose Western Texas, "I first started out looking at the distance; it's close enough but still enough of a drive for the college experience. Then I met Coach Melissa, she's a wonderful person, and after, I met the team, and it felt like home," she said.
We are all proud of Brooke and her accomplishments and wish her all the best next season.
