SONORA – The Sonora Broncos will now be taking on the Hawley Bearcats in San Angelo Stadium on Saturday in a high school football playoff game.
The Sonora Broncos announced via Facebook Wednesday evening that due to weather constraints, their regional semifinals game against the Hawley Bearcats has been postponed until Saturday, November 26, 2022. Also, the game has been moved from Memorial Stadium in Big Spring to San Angelo Stadium in San Angelo at 7:00 p.m.
The Broncos entered the playoffs as the first seed in their district and took on the Olney Cubs at Bulldog Stadium in Clyde. Sonora beat Olney 28-27 after going into the game as underdogs.
Last week, the Broncos beat the Farwell Steers 18-7 and were underdogs again.
The Hawley Bearcats have been out for blood this season. The Bearcats arew 12-0 this season and have played several 3A teams including Jim Ned, Eastland, and Lubbock Roosevelt. In the playoffs, they first traveled to San Angelo and beat the Christoval Cougars 52-8 then played Panhandle and won 72-26.
This one is sure to have it all with the senior heavy, high-powered offense of the Bearcats that includes quarterback Rodey Hooper, running back Austin Crumpton, and wide receivers Chandler Myers, Diontay Ramon, Kason O'Shields, and Will Scott.
The Broncos' offense has playmakers in quarterback Jaime Buitron, running back Hunter O'Banon, playmaker Edgar DeLuna, and wide receivers like Jonah Galvan, Cason Griffith, and Owen Jones. Don't forget this defense that features Darian Reyes, Tanner Flanagan, Dylan Ford, and Imanol Gayton.
