ARLINGTON, TX — The XFL announced today that season tickets are now on sale for the 2023 regular season. Each team will have five home games to choose from, with prices on general seating ranging from $20-$25. In addition, several perks come with season ticket purchases, including discounts on the XFL store and priority purchase of seats for playoffs and the championship game.
Three teams represent Texas this year. The Houston Roughnecks, the San Antonio Brahmas, and the Arlington Renegades.
Former WWE executive Vince McMahon founded the league in 2018 as a reboot and successor to the league of the same name he founded in 2001.
The alternate football league to the NFL succeeded in 2020 under McMahon before COVID-19 forced the league to shutter just before playoffs. McMahon sold the league to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Red Bird Capital in August 2020 for $15 million.
“The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia, and Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that's rooted deeply in two things, my passion for the game and my desire always to take care of the fans,” said Dwayne Johnson.
The XFL has football fans hoping that it can fill the football void college and NFL football leaves come February. Several notable NFL coaches and players will serve as head coaches for the XFL this year.
- Wade Phillips, ex-coach of the Dallas Cowboys, will coach the Houston Roughnecks.
- Former New Orleans Saints Head Coach Jim Haslett takes the helm for the Seattle Sea Dragons.
- Hines Ward, hall of fame nominee and Pittsburg Steelers legend, will coach the San Antonio Brahmas.
- Long-time Oklahoma Sooners Head Coach Bob Stoops will coach the Arlington Renegades. Stoops coached the Sooners for 18 seasons and won OU a national championship in 2000.
The XFL held its 2022 draft on Monday, Nov. 14, to fill the rosters for the teams participating in the spring. The league is expected to kick off on February 18, 2023.
