MIDLAND- The Midland TLCA Eagles have forfeited the next four district games.
Earlier today, news broke that Midland TLCA had canceled their varsity football game against the Eldorado Eagles. Now, more details have been released as to why the forfeit was necessary.
According to reports, Midland TLCA has forfeited their first four district games due to grades and injuries. Head coach David Willis said his team had 11 healthy and eligible players. In last week’s loss to Kermit, Midland TLCA had four players get injured.
The next four games scheduled for Midland TLCA (0-3) were:
- September 24- Eldorado Eagles (1-3)
- September 30- Iraan Braves (2-2)
- October 7- McCamey Badgers (3-1)
- October 14- Sterling City Eagles (2-2)
The Eagles have a bye on October 21 before returning to play on October 28 against the Water Valley Wildcats (2-2).
According to Dave Campbell’s Matt Stepp, each game will be a 17-0 loss for the Eagles. They have been outscored 185-0 this season so far. Midland TLCA is one of three teams in District 5-2A Division II who is making the jump from six-man to 11-man.
