SAN ANGELO, TX – A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries on Friday afternoon following a crash with a jeep.
According to Sgt. Cade Solsbery with the San Angelo Police Department, on Jul. 22 at around 4 p.m., officers with the SAPD were dispatched to the intersection of 19th and Armstrong for the report of a major crash.
When the officers arrived, they discovered a Harley Davidson Motorcycle and a Jeep that had crashed in the middle of the roadway. Here is a video from the scene:
Reporters on scene confirmed that the rider was taken to the hospital and it appeared he had apparent head trauma. It is not believed that the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. He was unconscious at the time of law enforcement's arrival.
Police believes that the jeep did commit a traffic violation but no citations were handed out on scene.
The identity of the individual operating the motorcycle has not been given at this time. Police said that he did have serious injuries but is alive as of now.
The crash shut down the intersection for only a brief period. The intersection will likely reopen within the hour.
