WACO – Two missing teenage girls were found by Sheriff's deputies near Austin and a man has been arrested over the weekend for harboring them.
McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara confirmed to reporters that three McLennan Sheriff's deputies found the two missing teenage girls in Georgetown and arrested the man, 30-year-old James Robert Vanhouten for allegedly harboring a minor.
On July 4, an Amber Alert was issued for Emiliee Solomon, 14, and Aysha Cross, 14, when police were screenshots. They shots were allegedly from Cross’ snapchat story and contained the message “help”.
The deputies followed leads that took them to Temple, Bellmead, and Moody where information led them back to Georgetown. The girls were allegedly staying with other people before ending up with Vanhouten. More arrests are likely.
McNamara said, “The (deputies) did an unbelieveable amount of work on it. That’s really good work on their part.”.
Solomon and Cross had been missing since June 28, but police said they did not meet the criteria the DPS has set for Amber Alerts.
The girls were reunited with family Tuesday morning.
