2 Killed in Big Rig Crash on I-20

 

ABILENE, TX –  A very graphic crash scene on Monday afternoon yielded multiple deaths. 

According to the Abilene Police Department, first responders responded to a major motor vehicle crash on Interstate 20 at mile marker 292 just after 4 p.m. on Monday, May 9, 2022.

Two people are confirmed deceased and one person remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

A 2014 Freightliner, semi tractor-trailer, driven by Freddie Brown Jr., (43 yoa) of Chicago IL, was traveling westbound on Interstate 20.

The truck left the roadway into the center median where the truck left the center median and into oncoming eastbound traffic. The semi struck a 2018 GMC Pickup truck, driven by 65-year-old William Clarence Dixon Jr. of Las Cruces, NM, his passenger, 57-year-old Lori Dianne Courtney, also of Las Cruces, were both pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace, Sparky Dean. Next of Kin notification has been made.

The driver of a semi-tractor-trailer, Mr. Brown, remains at the hospital in critical condition. The investigation of this crash is ongoing.
