AirMed1 Responds to Rollover Crash Near Water Valley

 

WATER VALLEY, TX — Shannon’s AirMed1 helicopter was dispatched Saturday afternoon to a rollover crash near Water Valley that prompted the closure of southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 87, according to emergency officials.

The crash was reported around 4:12 p.m. near the Coke County Safety Rest Area, which is right next to the Tom Green County and Coke County border. 

Emergency radio traffic indicated a vehicle rolled over with at least one person trapped inside. Scanner traffic reported that a person’s leg was trapped in the vehicle. 

Water Valley Volunteer Fire Department responded to assist with rescue efforts. Flight tracking data showed AirMed1 traveling from San Angelo toward the crash scene.

The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office issued a Nixle alert warning that southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 87 at the county line would be closed due to the incident.

No official information has been released regarding injuries, the cause of the crash, or when the roadway will reopen. The incident remains under investigation.
