San Angelo--San Angelo Independent School District is hosting a free bilingual resource night on Tuesday, April 19th at Bradford Elementary. Titled “Manos a la Obra”, or “Let’s Do This”, the event is geared toward bilingual families and aims to introduce them to the bilingual resources available through the school district and local non-profits.
Two of the main supporters of the event, Diego’s Burritos and Besos Events, both owned by entrepreneur and philanthropist Cynthia Diego, aim to make the event both enjoyable and accessible for families who may not be familiar with San Angelo’s support network. “I just want to be a blessing to people”, says Cynthia. “I don’t think people know what is out there for them”. “I’m proud to be a part of this event that brings together so many great organizations and people for a great cause.”
Diego, who is excited to provide an amazing taco bar for the event, gives back to the community because she feels she has been given the opportunity through her faith. Her sponsorship of the He Is Risen concert at the RiverStage last summer (which has had more than 90,000 views online) was not only free to the public, but brought together churches and other nonprofit organizations seeking to help the community with addiction issues. Besos Events has also agreed to sponsor a fun run for military families with the local Tunnels to Towers chapter in the coming weeks. “However I can give back, I will”, she says.
