Fire Marshal Says North San Angelo Fire "Suspicious"

A fire caught in a shed near 11th and Farr Streets this morning has been labeled "suspicious" and an investigation has been launched.

Fire Marshal Ross Coleman explained that the fire department was dispatched to a structure fire at 113 W. 11th St. just after 8 a.m. this morning.

"We did a full attack, which means we had several personnel, ladder truck, rescue trucks, we had an ambulance brought here on standby and a couple of other engines," Coleman said. 

Coleman said firefighters used approximately 500 gallons of water to extinguish the flames, which had engulfed a shed in the backyard of a residence. The house sustained only minimal damage, Coleman said, but the shed in the back was a complete and total loss. Red Cross was called in for assistance.

Coleman would not elaborate on why the fire was deemed suspicious, however said, "there's just some indicators there that we want to investigate and take some samples of and that type of thing".

Who called in the fire was not readily known at the scene, however Coleman had spoken to a homeowner, who relayed that the last resident of the home left the house at 7:30 a.m. this morning. 

The fire was extinguished within roughly 15 minutes, Coleman said. No one was injured in the fire.
