Christmas at Old Fort Concho Begins Today

SAN ANGELO, TX — Christmas at Old Fort Concho kicks off today, marking the start of the fort’s 44th annual holiday celebration. 

The three-day event runs Dec. 5–7 and transforms more than 20 historic buildings into a festive marketplace filled with reenactors, merchant shops, children’s activities, food vendors and daily entertainment. Gates open today from 3–8 p.m., with extended hours on Saturday and family activities continuing through Sunday.

Visitors can explore artillery demonstrations, period encampments and the popular sutler store in Barracks 1, which offers gifts, books and ornaments. Two new exhibits debut this year—one on the history of the San Angelo Standard Times and another highlighting Frontier Army Bands.

Parking is available in several lots around the fort, including the large Paseo lot across South Oakes Street, with a dedicated mobility-access lot located at Oakes and East Avenue D.

Food offerings begin Saturday with the Lions Club Pancake Breakfast with Santa, followed by a Chuck Wagon Camp meal from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and a Sunday breakfast in Stables Hall. A food court with multiple vendors will operate throughout the weekend.

The festivities continue in all weather conditions, and Saturday night features “A Musical Night in Another Century” from 7–9 p.m. inside Stables Hall.
