West Texas Energy Consortium Announces “Conference On The Concho”

 

The West Texas Energy Consortium (WTxEC or Consortium) will host its second annual Power in Partnership conference at the McNease Convention Center on May 6-7, 2015. This year’s event includes targeted trainings, an evening reception, and featured guest speakers. Guest keynotes on May 7th will cover topics such as water supply & emerging technologies, current oil markets locally and abroad, energy industry workforce analysis, and more. Speakers include Allen Gilmer, DrillingInfo CEO; Dr. Bud Weinstein, Maguire Energy Institute Assistant Director; Hope Andrade, Texas Workforce Commissioner Representing Small Businesses; and Richard Seline, Accelerate H2O State Project Manager.

Trainings on May 6th include oilfield emergency response with Wild Well Control Services, providing tactics and strategies for municipal responders on well and pipeline incidents. This session will offer six hours continuing educationcredit in Critical Incident Management and is offered free to all emergency responders separate from the conference ticket through a partnership with Shell Oil.Dr. Reagan Flowers, C-STEM leader, will lead a discussion forum on the West Texas Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Initiative with ISDs and colleges across the region. K-12 and post-secondary leaders will also discuss plans for the upcoming STEM Regional Center of Excellence.Finally, economic development panelists will cover pertinent issues and opportunities around rail expansion, zoning/ordinances for oil impacted communities, and business park design and marketing.
