San Angelo Woman Dies When Pickup Plunges Into Lake Nasworthy

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo woman died over the weekend after a crash forced her pickup into Lake Nasworthy.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on Feb. 20 at 9:41 p.m., officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the 6000 block of Knickerbocker Rd. for the report of a major crash. 

When they arrived, the officers discovered a black Nissan Titan and a White pickup that were partially submerged in Lake Nasworthy. It was quickly learned that there was one occupant in the Nissan who was unable to get out.

Officers and San Angelo Fire Department firefighters entered the water and removed the occupant. The occupant was taken to Shannon where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan was identified as Mandy Lowry, 45, of San Angelo.

The SAPD's Motors and Crime Scene Divisions investigated the crash. From their investigation they were able to determine that the Nissan was traveling South on Knickerbocker rd., left the roadway, and struck an unoccupied vehicle causing both vehicles to fall down an embankment into Lake Nasworthy.
