SAN ANGELO, TX- Who doesn’t love the great outdoors?

In 2021, squirrel hunting regulations changes, Texas was hit by a historic winter storm, a snake hitchhiked to the nearest Dollar Tree, and two Texas men killed a monster feral hog. Once the ice broke, Spring and Summer rolled around, fishing stories took over as did bees in San Angelo.

Here are the Most Read Outdoor stories from 2021.

1. Hunting regulations for the 2021-22 season were approved by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission at its public meeting held online March 25.

2. A scary moment occurred Wednesday afternoon after a snake got caught inside of the running boards of a Cadillac Escalade in the Dollar Tree parking lot next to H-E-B.

3. Anglers delivered three more Legacy Lunkers last Tuesday followed by a fourth Sunday during the final weekend of the 2021 Toyota ShareLunker season.

4. There is a life-threatening snow storm headed for the Concho Valley Sunday and meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo are urging residents to stock up on vital supplies and make plans now.

5. The record for the largest bluefin tuna was broken Tuesday after a Texas angler caught a nearly 900 pound fish.

6. Texas Parks and Wildlife Biologists have been made aware of an on-going situation involving multiple black bear present near the North Double Diamond community south of Alpine.

7. A 17-year-old and a 20-year-old killed a huge feral hog with a knife in central Texas this week.

8. Despite cold temperatures and an unprecedented winter storm, February proved to be a banner month for the Toyota ShareLunker program.

9. A west San Angelo intersection was shut down Saturday as first responders dealt with a swarm of bees.

10. Weather conditions continue to deteriorate in West Texas Sunday evening and residents are urged not to travel in the blizzard conditions until Tuesday.
