Lowe's Home Improvement Helps MDA Send Kids to Summer Camp

Rain did not stop Lowe’s Home Improvement, 5301 Sherwood Way,  from raising funds for MDA on Saturday. Customers were greeted at the door by San Angelo Firefighters, Gunsmoke; mascot for the Bandits, and Lowe’s employee Shryn Sawyer.

Small games, face painting, and balloon animals were activities enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Raffle tickets were sold at $1 each for the opportunity to win a 42’ television or a Kindle Fire. Different colored MDA shamrocks filled a table at the entry way with names of people who had donated written on them. Kids with junior sized red firehats talked with firefighters, and took pictures with Gunsmoke.

“We are raising money to send 32 local muscular dystrophy children to Happy Texas Summer Camp,” said Shryn Sawyer, Lowe’s employee. “Hopefully we can raise enough to completely fund the entire trip.”

MDA Summer Camp at Ceta Canyon provides an opportunity for kids with neuromuscular disease to interact with other kids just like them, and enjoy fun, safe outdoor activities like horseback riding and swimming. The camps also provide a chance for parents of the children who are also their 24 hour caregivers a much needed time of rest and relaxation.  A team of health professionals and trained camp volunteers assure every childs medical and physical needs are met.
