UIL Shakes Up the Concho Valley with 2022 Football Realignment Numbers

SAN ANGELO, TX – A number of major changes will be coming to Concho Valley's Friday Night Lights after the UIL released the 2022 cutoff numbers.

The UIL, on Dec. 8, released the 2022-2024 Reclassification and Realignment Conference Cutoff Numbers. These numbers will be used to redistrict every school in then State of Texas for the upcoming football season.

This year a number of moves are happening in the Concho Valley. The biggest move will be for the Sterling City Eagles. The Eagles will be moving up from 1A-D1 to 2A-D2. This means the last season's 6-man state champions will be moving up to 11-man. Another six man team moving up to 11-man will be the Water Valley Wildcats.

A disappointing move will be in 2A-D2. The huge annual rivalry between Christoval and Eldorado is over as the Cougars will be moving up to 2A-D1. The Cougars will still have to play a familiar face in district though because the Sonora Broncos are moving down from 3A-D2 to 2A-D1.

Two teams that will be taking the spot of Sonora will be the Wall Hawks and the TLCA Eagles. Both of these school played in the 3A-D1 but will drop down to 3A-D2.

Another rivalry that will be broken up is the battle of Coke County. Bronte and Robert Lee will be splitting up due to Robert Lee being moved to 1A-D1.
