A husband and wife who moved to San Angelo from North Carolina and began sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl have been sent off to prison for a combined six decades, both having recently pled guilty to sex crimes in Tom Green County.
Jeremy Dewayne Sandifer, 31, and Cali Lucille Davis, 32, conspired to abuse the little girl continually between October 2013 and March 3, 2014, when the child underwent a forensic interview after making an outcry.
Davis was sentenced in January on a single count of indecency with a child sexual contact, a second-degree felony, and received the 20-year maximum sentence. A first-degree charge of aggravated sexual assault of child was dropped as part of the plea.
On Feb. 13, Sandifer went before Judge Been Woodward’s 119th District Court and pled guilty to two charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child in exchange for a 40-year sentence. Two other charges, first-degree sexual abuse of a child continuous victim under 14 and second-degree indecency with a child sexual contact, were abandoned as part of the plea.
According to a hearsay statement filed with the court, the child victim made an outcry and stated Sandifer had sexually abused her repeatedly over the span of months, sometimes photographing her in a state of undress and talking to her about modeling for him to make money.
On March 18, 2014, a warrant was issued for Sandifer’s arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Sandifer was captured on March 19 in Winston-Salem, N.C. and was transported back to Tom Green County. The other charges were added as the investigation continued.
He was booked into the county jail on June 20, where he remains awaiting prison transport. Cali Lucille Davis was released to TDCJ on Feb. 13.
