Woman Sentenced to 20 Years for Sexual Contact with 7-Year-Old

A San Angelo woman was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Jan. 13, after pleading guilty to one count of indecency with a child sexual contact.

The woman, 32-year-old Cali Lucille Davis, was accused of conspiring with Jeremy Dewayne Sandifer, 31, to sexually assault a 7-year-old child. The abuse, which was discovered when the child victim made an outcry, had begun in Oct. 2013 and continued through March 3, 2014, when the child underwent a forensic interview.

Davis was indicted in July 2014 on one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony, and one count of indecency with a child sexual contact, a second-degree felony.

Sandifer was indicted in July 2014 on two first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, one first-degree charge of sexual abuse of a child continuous, victim under 14, and one second-degree count of indecency with a child sexual contact.

Complaints filed in both cases indicate that both Davis and Sandifer engaged in sexual contact and intercourse with the victim.

On Jan. 13, Davis went before Judge Gossett in the 119th District Court and pled guilty to the indecency with a child charge and was sentenced to 20 years. In exchange for the guilty plea the aggravated sexual assault charge was dropped.

Sandifer has yet to go before the court, however a trial is set for March 23. He has been in the county jail since June 20, 2014.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child and sexual abuse of a child continuous victim under 14 are first-degree felonies punishable by 5-99 years in the TDCJ and a fine not to exceed $10k. Indecency with a child sexual contact is a second-degree felony punishable by 2-20 years confinement and a fine not to exceed $10k.
