Week 10: Friday Night's Action Could Determine Who's In and Who's Out

SAN ANGELO, TX – Week 10 of Texas High School Football is here and with that playoff seeding is on the line.

Midland Legacy (-14) vs. San Angelo Central

The day that many Bobcat fans have had circled is finally here. The, more than likely, Little Southwest Conference district champion Midland Legacy Rebels will be playing against the Central Bobcats at San Angelo Stadium tonight. The Rebels have defeated every district opponent they have played so far and are big-time favorites in this game. COVER1 Scorebook O/U: 63

  • Ryan Chadwick - Central
  • James Bouligny - Legacy
  • Traci King - Legacy
  • Sonia Ramirez-Munoz - Central

Lake View vs. Andrews (-3.5)

The battle for last place in the district will happen tonight. This is the best chance for Lake View to grab a district win in three years. Andrews is having an off-year heading into this matchup against the Chiefs coming in at 2-6 while being outscored by opponents by 45 points on the year. COVER1 Scorebook: 58.5

  • Manny Diaz - Lake View
  • Matt Trammell - Lake View
  • Ryan Chadwick - Andrews
  • James Bouligny - Andrews
  • Traci King - Andrews
  • Sonia Ramirez-Munoz - Lake View

Abilene (-10) vs. Midland

For the first time in probably school history, the Abilene High Eagles are actually rooting for the Central Bobcats. If they can knock off Midland Legacy then they could get a piece of the district championship. But in order to do that the Eagles must also win out. This means they will be determined to beat the lackluster 2-6 Midland High Bulldogs. COVER1 Scorebook: 59

  • Matt Trammell - Abilene
  • Ryan Chadwick - Abilene
  • James Bouligny - Abilene
  • Traci King - Abilene
  • Sonia Ramirez-Munoz - Abilene

Frenship vs. Odessa (-6)

When you look on paper nothing stands out about this matchup. Two teams that won't make the playoffs and are fighting to avoid last-place in the district. But this game will actually be more exciting than you think. Two high-powered offenses who could give a lick about defense always ends with a good time. Plus I have a feeling neither team wants to be the biggest loser.  COVER1 Scorebook: 69

  • Manny Diaz - Frenship
  • Matt Trammell - Odessa
  • Ryan Chadwick - Odessa
  • James Bouligny - Odessa
  • Traci King - Frenship
  • Sonia Ramirez-Munoz - Frenship
  • Yantis Green - Frenship

Christoval (-17) vs. Junction

Coming off a big win last week against then state-ranked Eldorado, the Christoval Cougars are looking to continue their momentum against Junction. This game is expected to be one-sided with Christoval sitting as 17 point favorites heading into the contest. The key to it, their two studs on defense, Beau Jolly and Cayden Carpenter are both number one and two in Class 2A Division II football in interceptions. COVER1 Scorebook: 70

  • Manny Diaz - Christoval
  • Matt Trammell - Christoval
  • Ryan Chadwick - Christoval
  • James Bouligny - Christoval
  • Traci King - Christoval

Clyde vs. Wall (-7.5)

The Wall Hawks may not win district this year but you better believe they are playing to come in second. Besides the Jim Ned Indians, there are not many tough opponents. For example tonight the Hawks will play a 1-7 Clyde team. Keep your eyes on this one though because the Hawks only average 12 points a game while Clyde averages nearly 20. COVER1 Scorebook: 37
