TYLER, TX –– After nearly two weeks of hearing from witnesses and plenty of evidence, a jury found William George Davis guilty of capital murder of four hospital patients.
According to law enforcement, for two years, Davis injected air into the victim's arterial system while he was employed as a nurse at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Louis and Peaches Owen Heart Hospital in Tyler.
The investigation into the deaths of John Lafferty, Ronald Clark, Christopher Greenway, and Joseph Kalina revealed the four patients were in stable condition when they all suddenly began experiencing stroke-like symptoms.
Security footage from one of the hospitals showed Davis was the last person to enter the patients' room before they went into distress. Davis was the nurse on duty when the patients' health began to deteriorate.
After completing a CT on the patients, doctors found abnormal arterial spaces that could only be explained by having a large amount of air pumped into the patients' veins.
While attorneys took nearly two hours to present their closing arguments, the jury deliberated for approximately an hour.
After finding Davis guilty, the jury will reconvene on Wednesday to begin the punishment phase.
