Young Mother of Six Dies After Battling Covid-19

SAN ANTONIO, TX –– A San Antonio family is grieving the loss of a young mother who lost her life to Covid-19.

Less than a month ago, 28-year-old Ashley Solis was six months pregnant and living her best life with her husband and five children –– then the entire family contracted Covid-19.

Even as her kids and husband of 10 years made a full recovery, Solis visited the hospital two separate times.

"Like three weeks ago she was just like all of us here," said husband Roland Solis. "Loving, outgoing, and capable of doing anything. It just attacked her fast and hard."

As her condition worsened, Solis had to have an emergency C-section so she could be treated for Covid-19.

On September 17th, Solis delivered baby Miguel three months premature. Miguel was stillborn, but doctors were able to resuscitate him.

"He’s strong just like his mom," said Roland Solis.

According to her family, the mother of five fought against all odds to make sure her baby could live. Miguel weighs only two pounds but he is on the road to recovery.

"There’s only one word to say: he’s a miracle and we’re blessed to have him with us," said sister-in-law Victoria Gonzales. "I know that Ashley would love him just as much as she loved the other five."

After the birth, Solis was placed on a ventilator and passed away less than three weeks later.

A GoFundME has been created to help the family raise funds and support their children through the loss.

"As we all know our sweet Ashley left home to heaven fighting against this horrible virus," said the family in the fundraiser. "Even though we wish she could have stayed here with us and keep fighting our beloved Ashley fought so hard."
