Arlington High School Shooter Released After Posting Bond

ARLINGTON, TX –– A day after Timothy George Simpkins shot students at Timberview High School in Arlington, he was released from custody.

After the shooting, police began an hours-long manhunt that ended when Simpkins turned himself in to authorities.

Simpkins was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was released after posting a $75,000 bond.

According to court documents, the conditions of his bond include drug and alcohol testing, GPS monitoring, and 24-hour home confinement.

According to his family, Simpkins had been bullied and robbed at least two at the school.

"He was scared. He was afraid. There is a video all out on social media and it shows that he was being attacked," said Carrol Harrison Simpkins. "It wasn't just one person that would attack him and bully him, taking his money, harassing him, due to the fact because he had more things than maybe others. It takes us all. It takes us all to stand together about this bullying. It could have been a situation where he took the other turn and decided to commit suicide. What, the decision that he made taking the gun... we're not justifying that, that was not right, but he was trying to protect himself."

According to investigators, a fight did occur just before the shooting. A video has been making the rounds on social media allegedly showing the fight, but police have not confirmed if the video is accurate.

Two of the victims are expected to survive, while a 15-year-old student remains in critical condition.

According to the teen's family, the teen was shot in the arm, leg, chest, and stomach. He is currently in an induced coma and on a ventilator.
