SAN ANTONIO, TX – A former Bexar County Sheriff's deputy is facing legal trouble after he allegedly used inappropriate force on an inmate in the Bexar County Jail.
Back in December of last year, Jaime Soto was accused of knocking the inmate to the ground without justification. According to the investigation, a department supervisor saw the incident unfold in the camera footage.
After the internal investigation was completed in June, the 42-year-old deputy was given a notice of dismissal. Soto resigned a few days later.
“A badge does not grant extra rights," said Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar. "The integrity of our profession hinges on the willingness of good cops to weed out bad cops. I commend the work of an astute supervisor, along with Internal Affairs, Public Integrity, Organized Crime deputies, and the Bexar County D.A.’s Office in making this arrest.”
On Monday, Soto was arrested and charged with official oppression. He was released after posting a $4,000 bond.
