AUSTIN, TX –– The Department of Public Safety announced two suspects on the Texas Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list are now behind bars.
According to DPS, 22-year-old Heriberto Cardenas was arrested in Laredo, while 27-year-old Ralph Ballard was arrested in College Station earlier this month.
Cardenas is affiliated with the El Cuatro gang and wanted for a parole violation warrant issued by the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles. He was also wanted by the Laredo Police Department for evading arrest/detention, and by the Webb County Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation.
Cardenas had been previously convicted of three counts of aggravated assault.
Cardenas was subsequently arrested at a residence after several law enforcement agencies tracked him down.
According to police, Ballard had an active arrest warrant for a parole violation in addition to others. He was wanted for failure to register as a sex offender, unlawful possession of a firearm, theft of property, and larceny.
Ballard was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in 2014.
According to DPS, with the help of other agencies, nine individuals featured on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders lists have been apprehended. This includes four gang members and four sex offenders.
