FORT WORTH, TX – A former McMurry University football player will spend the next 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to murder.
According to court documents, Brodrick "B.J." Ross and two other football players entered the home of Chris-Dion Russell looking to steal marijuana in January of 2017.
According to court documents, Ross and his accomplices robbed and killed Russell during the break-in.
According to local media outlets, the Tarrant County Judge received dozens of letters asking authorities to give Ross a lenient sentence.
The other two football players were identified as Ryan McBeth and Dontrell Dock.
Dock was previously convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. McBeth has not been indicted in connection to the case.
Ross was a graduate of Byan High School where he was the quarterback. During his time at McMurry University, Ross was also the starting quarterback.
