Man Sentenced to 40 Years for Ex-Wife's Murder

MONAHANS, TX – A Monahans man will spend the next 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his wife.

According to local media, Jeremy McPeake pled guilty to killing his ex-wife LaTashia Thompson-McPeake in 2018.

In November of that year officers located Thompson-McPeake's car crashed into the back of the St. John Evangelist Catholic Church.

In the front seat of the vehicle, officers located the victim's body with several stab wounds.

Investigators believe she was attempting to drive herself to the hospital but ultimately crashed and succumbed to her injuries.

During the investigation, officers located the suspect hiding in the backyard home with bloody clothes and a cut on his hand.

When McPeake was interviewed by police he stated "he did it" and showed them the knife he used to stab his ex-wife.

According to court documents, McPeake served 18 years in prison after he was found guilty of aggravated robbery. He was released in 1999.
