Date Night Tickets Selling Out Fast

Tickets are still available for Date Night’s 25th anniversary Reunion Night for past participants on Feb. 12. Reunion Night is meant to allow parents and children older than 13 a final chance to celebrate one of San Angelo’s most enduring and endearing family events.

Because Date Night always sells out, the public is encouraged to buy tickets early. No tickets remain for Monday’s Daddy/Daughter night, while more than 100 tickets remain for Mother/Son night on Tuesday and approximately 50 are available for Wednesday’s Daddy/Daughter night.

All tickets are on sale from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays in the Recreation offices at Santa Fe Crossing, 702 S. Chadbourne St. The silver anniversary Reunion Night tickets cost $30 each, which includes the usual Date Night fare – music, dancing and the opportunity to purchase mementos – plus a catered dinner. Tickets to Tuesday and Wednesday cost $12 each.

Sponsored by the City of San Angelo’s Recreation Division, Date Night aims to give girls and boys ages 5-13 a special night during which they are the sole focus of their parent’s attention. This year’s theme of “Frozen” reflects the event’s silver anniversary, a testament to its popularity and standing in the community.

For more information, call the Recreation Division offices at 325-657-4450.

Date Night is co-sponsored by American Truck & RV, Angelo Chiropractic & Acupuncture, Bentwood Country Club & Estates, City Lumber Wholesale, Coca-Cola, Foster Communications, Holiday Cleaners, KIDY Fox San Angelo, McLaughlin Advertising and Randall Motors.

It's truly sad to know that the Rec Dept. and all of the other sponsors don't realize that some of these children don't have a daddy to take them on Monday or Wednesday now a mommy to take them on Tuesday.

However, the city won't allow a mommy to take her daughter or a daddy to take his son! It leaves a lot of kiddos out from having the same opportunity as other children do for this special event!

Such is life, Polly Anna. I didn't have a father to walk me down the aisle at my wedding cause he died when I was 16. Some people don't have parents cause they're deadbeats... Fortunately, these poor children have a carnival within DAYS to be bribed with... Stop sprinkling salt on their wounds for them! They'll be FINE!
