SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police Department veteran Public Information Officer Tracy Piatt-Fox announced Monday that she will be retiring from the force.
The following is the statement released from former Public Information Officer Piatt-Fox:
"After writing what seems to be thousands of press releases, speeches, and emergency alerts;
After appearing at hundreds of speaking engagements and giving hundreds of presentations on personal safety, human trafficking awareness, crime prevention, online safety and bullying, and Citizens Response to Active Attack Events;
After creating hundreds of graphics, logos, and awareness campaigns (some better than others, I tried!);
I have officially retired from service from the San Angelo Police Department!
I have used this page in a liaison capacity for many years as the Department’s Public Information Officer but more importantly, to connect with the citizens I have served.
I want to thank everyone for the opportunity to connect and collaborate in my stouthearted attempt of making San Angelo a safer and healthier place to work, play, and raise our families.
I truly believe that safer communities can only happen when we have meaningful relationships and respectful communication.
It has been an honor and I am proud to have created the Department’s Social Media Platforms, Nixle
emergency communications platform, and to have maintained and administrated the Department’s website.
I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with local and National media members as well and I cannot thank them enough for sharing the Department’s information and events.
And although I will miss corresponding with you and connecting with you at events....I am ready for this change.
Change is only as difficult as we make it and there is beauty in new beginnings. There is freedom in closure.
I will miss so many things about being a peace officer but I am absolutely thrilled to have more opportunities to serve our community in other ways.
I rest assured in my Father. He has me. I fear not!
It’s daunting to contemplate drastic change... but this much I know....
Don’t wait until everything is just right. It will never be perfect. There will always be challenges, obstacles, and less than perfect conditions. So what. Get started now. With each step you take, you will grow stronger and stronger, more and more skilled, more and more self-confident, and more and more successful.
BUT—— Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men.
Love you guys! #commUNITY"
Officer Piatt-Fox was with the department since 2006. Her replacement has not been announced at this time.
