HOUSTON, TX – A residential neighborhood in West Houston was put in an extreme situation Sunday after a Bengal tiger was spotted roaming the streets.
According to witnesses in Memorial Village, on May 9 at around 8 p.m., the tiger was spotted with a collar on roaming in front of a vacant house. Luckily an off duty deputy with the Waller County Sheriff's Office was able to call in for help before anything terrible happened.
The deputy drew his pistol for protection and tried to keep an eye on the tiger until backup arrived. Before additional officers arrived a resident from across the street came out and grabbed the tiger by the collar and took him inside his home.
Neighbors reported that the man was then seen fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed in an SUV. The Houston Police Department is currently looking for more information and the HPD says the Major Offenders Division, Animal Cruelty Unit and BARC have taken over the investigation.
