San Angelo Central High Vandalized

SAN ANGELO, TX — San Angelo LIVE! was able to confirm significant vandalism was committed to buildings at the San Angelo Central High School Campus, 655 Caddo St., over the weekend.

In an email we were shown that was sent to the high school’s faculty, Principal Bill Waters said the damage was significant. Windows were broken, a couple classrooms were ransacked, and the boiler room was damaged.

On the night of the vandalism, early Saturday morning, reports from the police radio indicated that suspects had fled the scene but police did not catch them.

Subsequently, police said two arrests have been made in connection with the vandalism. The school district has not released any information on the incident. We have open records requests in with the San Angelo Police Department asking for more details.

Of the two arrests, our sources confirmed that one was a juvenile and the other is being charged as an adult.

Damaging school property carries its own special charge under Texas Statutes. If the damage to the school is between $750 and $30,000, the charge can be a State Jail Felony. For damages more than $30,000, the charges can be upgraded to a Third Degree Felony.

No doubt there are security cameras everywhere, especially since the suspects gained entry into the school buildings.

The identity of those arrested are pending release from the San Angelo Police Department.
