Oil Battery Tank Explosion Lights Up the Nolan County Sky

 

SWEETWATER, TX – The early morning sky was lit up on Wednesday morning after an oil tank battery exploded on the Silver Slipper Ranch near Sweetwater, TX.

According to the Sweetwater Fire Department, the fiery explosion occurred just after 6:00 a.m. west of Highway 70. The flames could be seen for at least 10 miles radius after the explosion created an "orange mushroom cloud."

For nearly an hour SFD firefighters searched for the area where the incident occurred. With the help of a Nolan County Sheriff's Deputy and a wind turbine worker first responders were able to locate the fire.

After arriving at the scene firefighters worked for 45 minutes to extinguish the fire. No one was injured as a result of the explosion.
