SNYDER, TX — A woman from Arkansas was killed and a man seriously injured Thursday afternoon in a crash involving a motorcycle and a Ford Bronco on U.S. Highway 84 near Ennis Creek Road, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
It happened at about 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 16. DPS investigators said a 2022 Ford Bronco driven by 67-year-old Jimmy Garza of Brownfield entered U.S. 84 from Ennis Creek Road, traveling north in the left lane. A 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle traveling in the same direction failed to control its speed and struck the Bronco from behind.
The motorcycle’s passenger, 50-year-old Theresa Martin of Hot Springs, Arkansas, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver, 55-year-old Daniel Martin, also of Hot Springs, sustained incapacitating injuries and was transported to University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Garza, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured. Both motorcycle riders were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
DPS reported that the weather and road conditions were clear and dry. The posted speed limit on that stretch of highway is 75 mph.
