SAN ANGELO, TX – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Southern Concho Valley including Tom Green County Thursday.
According to the NWS, the severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 3 p.m.
Showers and thunderstorms were developing across the area Thursday morning.
These storms will move north at 40 mph and could contain large hail, damaging winds and dangerous lightning.
A severe thunderstorm by definition is a thunderstorm that produces one inch hail or larger in diameter and/or winds equal or exceed 58 miles an hour. The size of the watch can vary depending on the weather situation. They are usually issued for a duration of 4 to 8 hours.
In addition, areas of dense fog will reduce visibility this morning.
There is an 80 percent chance of rain Thursday and a 40 percent chance Thursday night.
