LUBBOCK, TX -- A 39-year-old Hobbs man will spend the next 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
According to court documents, Brian Dean Halliburton was arrested after he began communicating with a 16-year-old girl on 'Skout" -- the "girl" was a Lubbock Police Department detective. The detective told Halliburton "she" was sixteen years old.
The affidavit stated Halliburton would ask the "victim" questions like “what are you wearing?” or “how many times have you had sex?”
Police also had evidence Halliburton asked to meet the teen and for sexually explicit pictures. He also offered to send her pictures of himself.
Halliburton then sent sexually explicit images of his genitals and a video of him masturbating and arranged to meet up with the teen in Lubbock.
After driving from Hobbs to Lubbock, Halliburton was arrested and told police he intended to have sex with the teen.
He also admitted to sexual contact with two other 15-16-year-old females, possessing child pornography through KIK, a freeware instant messaging mobile app.
In December of 2020, Halliburton was sentenced to five years in prison and five years of supervision after he was released.
In addition to those charges, Halliburton was charged with attempted enticement of a minor and travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
He was sentenced to 20 years in prison and must be under supervision for the rest of his life, He must also register as a sex offender.
Halliburton is still facing charges of online solicitation of a minor, sale/distribution of material to a minor, and tampering with evidence, but has not been indicted at this time.
